2. Insulin
This hormone is released by the pancreas. The pancreas is located in the abdomen, behind the stomach. It secretes hormones and enzymes to facilitate digestion. It enables the body to utilize glucose (sugar) derived from dietary carbohydrates for energy or to store it for future use. It also regulates blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels lead to hyperglycemia, while low levels result in hypoglycemia. Diabetes is caused by a deficiency of insulin, a substance secreted by the pancreas in the body.
3. Estrogen
This is a female sex hormone produced by the ovaries. It is also synthesized by fat cells and the adrenal glands. It plays a key role in reproduction, the menstrual cycle, and menopause. Excessive estrogen secretion in the female body increases the risk of breast cancer, uterine cancer, depression, and mood disturbances. Conversely, low estrogen levels increase the likelihood of acne, skin lesions, skin thinning, and hair loss.
4. Progesterone
Progesterone is secreted by the ovaries, the placenta (during pregnancy), and the adrenal glands. Due to a serotonin imbalance in the body, the brain fails to produce enough of the hormone to regulate mood or stress levels. Low levels of serotonin can lead to issues such as depression, migraines, weight gain, insomnia, and carbohydrate cravings. Conversely, excessively high levels of serotonin can cause confusion, fainting, and other complications.
8. Cortisol
This hormone is produced by the adrenal glands. It helps you stay healthy and energetic. Its primary role is to manage physical and mental stress. In dangerous situations, it increases heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration. Cortisol is released into the body during stressful times to enable an effective response to the situation. 9. Adrenaline
