5 Reasons for Increasing Obesity in Children

  1. Excessive consumption of junk food and sugary drinks: Nowadays children eat more things like pizza, burger, chips, cold drinks. These have calories but no nutrition at all. This causes fat accumulation in the body.
  2. Lack of physical activity: Earlier children used to play outside, run around. Now they spend most of their time on mobile, TV or laptop. This does not burn their calories and increases weight.
  1. Lack of sleep: Staying awake till late night, getting up late in the morning and not eating on time spoils the metabolism of children, which increases obesity. This is becoming a big problem.

  1. Mental stress and emotional eating: The pressure of studies, loneliness or the effect of social media puts children under stress. In such a situation, they take food as a support. This can also be a reason for increasing obesity in children.

What to do to reduce the Weight of Children?

  • Give healthy diet: Give children homemade nutritious food which contains fruits, vegetables, pulses and whole grains.
  • Reduce screen time: Fix time for mobile and TV and encourage them to play outside.
  • Increase physical activity: At least 1 hour of play or exercise is necessary every day.
  • Get enough sleep: Make children get 8–10 hours of sleep every day so that their body works properly.
  • Create a positive environment: Instead of scolding children, explain to them lovingly and motivate them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Children’s obesity is not just a physical problem, but it can affect their entire life. If we take the right steps in time, children can have a healthy, happy and active life. Parents, schools and society will have to work together in this direction.
