NASA

NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA was started on October 1, 1958, in the United States. At this time the President of America was Eisenhower. NASA’s main purpose was to act as an independent agency to direct the nation’s space missions and research programs.

Where is NASA?

NASA is headquartered in Washington, DC. NASA has 10 centers in the United States. NASA also has seven small workplaces where they test and study Earth and space. Thousands of people work for NASA. Becoming an astronaut is perhaps the most famous job at NASA, but astronauts are a small part of the workforce. Many engineers and scientists also work in NASA. Here people do other things like, like secretaries, clerks, journalists, lawyers and even teachers.

What does NASA do?

NASA does a lot of different things. NASA makes satellites. Satellites help scientists learn more about Earth. NASA sends these space probes into space. NASA scientists study things in the Solar System and even further away. NASA has launched a new program that will send humans to establish colonies on the Moon and one day Mars. NASA also shares everything it learns with other space agencies like ISRO.

What has NASA done?

NASA started planning human spacecraft from its beginning. The Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs helped NASA learn about flying in space. This led to the first human landing on the Moon in 1969. NASA astronauts live and work on the International Space Station. Space probes have visited every planet in the Solar System. Scientists have looked far into space with binoculars. NASA satellites help people understand weather patterns on Earth. NASA also helps in the development and testing of new aircraft. Some airplanes have set new records. NASA works to make space travel faster and safer.

Conclusion

NASA has made major contributions to revolutionary industries such as satellite telecommunications, GPS, remote sensing, and space travel. NASA’s contribution enabled the first weather imagery to be transmitted from space. NASA is now preparing for an ambitious new era of permanent human spacecraft and exploration. The agency is building Space Launch System rockets and Orion spacecraft for deep space exploration.
