These 5 Symptoms Can Tell If Your Kidneys Are Fine Or Bad

Kidneys do many things in our body at the same time. They remove waste material from the body. They maintain the balance of fluids and electrolytes. They monitor blood pressure and also help in making red blood cells. But people often ignore the early symptoms of kidney damage.

If these signs are recognized in time, then the treatment of kidney related diseases can also start early. Let us know those five symptoms, which we often do not pay attention to. These can be signs of kidney disease or their damage.

1. Frequent urination

Frequent urination can be a sign of kidney damage. This is called polyuria. However, when the kidney gets damaged, there is less urine than required. Often foam in the urine is said to be a sign of this. Dr. Mohsin Wali, Senior Consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, says but this is not necessary. Foam in urine can also occur due to other diseases.

2. Swelling in the body

Swelling in the eyes and feet can be a sign of kidney failure. If there is swelling in the ankles and calves, it should not be ignored. It indicates kidney disease. Dr. Garima Agarwal, Consultant Nephrologist at Manipal Hospital, says that one should be alert if the feet swell. Swelling in the eyes, face and feet indicates kidney disease.

3. Blood pressure

According to experts, blood pressure is a double-edged sword. High blood pressure affects the kidneys. Along with this, kidney failure also increases blood pressure. Therefore, one should be alert about blood pressure. Dr. Garima Agarwal says that sometimes blood pressure is not controlled and the dose of medicines increases. This is also a sign of kidney disease.

4. Diabetes

The kidneys are most affected due to diabetes. Dr. Garima Agarwal says that 80 percent of kidney patients suffer from diabetes. Kidneys are affected in 30 to 40 percent of diabetes cases. If kidney disease starts developing in people suffering from diabetes, their sugar level also goes down. Kidney disease starts developing due to high sugar for many years.

5. Fatigue, itching and nausea

Fatigue, itching in the body and nausea can be signs of kidney disease. According to experts, itching occurs due to lack of phosphorus in the body. Kidney disease causes deficiency of phosphorus in the body. Some patients with kidney disease start feeling nauseous. They do not feel like eating. Experts say that a healthy lifestyle is very helpful in preventing kidney disease. They say that regular exercise, drinking enough water and using less salt and sugar are effective in preventing kidney disease. Dr. Mohsin Wali and Dr. Garima Agarwal both told  some ways by which this disease can be prevented:

Drink enough water: Water plays an important role in a healthy kidney. When you drink enough water, the kidney produces enough urine to flush out harmful elements from the body. Also, the risk of kidney stones and infection is reduced. If you are drinking enough water, your urine will be clear or light yellow. Dr. Garima Agarwal says, in general, one should drink two to two and a half liters of water in a day.

Eat less salt: Too much salt is not good for the kidneys. Because it increases blood pressure and damages the kidneys. Avoid pickles, papad and processed food. Noodles, chowmein and other things contain a lot of salt. Avoid these.

Do not eat rock salt: Nowadays, the trend of eating rock salt has increased. But patients with high blood pressure should not eat rock salt. Dr. Mohsin Wali says that it is generally believed that rock salt is better for health than ordinary salt. But it contains less potassium and more sodium.

Reduce sugar: If you want to avoid kidney diseases, eat less sweets. It is better not to eat sugar. Things like cakes, cookies, pastries and colas contain processed sugar. Sugar increases obesity and there is a risk of kidney disease.

Control your weight: Experts say that reduce weight. Because obese people are at a higher risk of kidney disease. Keep the body mass index i.e. BMI low. It is very good if it is less than 24. Do light physical exercises. This is very important. This keeps the metabolism good. If this is good, then when you reach the age of 50, the risk of diabetes and blood pressure will be less.

Take a balanced diet: Eat food rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains. Pro-biotic things are good for health. Give them priority. Avoid eating fried food. Adequate water, balanced diet and exercise keep the kidneys healthy and your overall health good.

Do not take medicine without consulting a doctor: Dr. Garima Agarwal says, “Often we see that people buy medicines from the pharmacy and consume them without consulting a doctor. Dr. Garima Agarwal says that most people take painkillers.” According to her, “Elderly people often take painkillers for body pain and arthritis. Some medicines may contain heavy metals and steroids. This can damage the kidneys.”
