India is soon going to have a web browser of its own. Indian software company Zoho Corporation has been entrusted with the responsibility to produce it. The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology made this announcement on Thursday (March 20).

Rs 3 crore fund for web browser creation

The government has assured a fund of Rs 3 crore to develop a Made in India web browser. After preparation, it will be issued with a security certificate, and later, consumers will be able to use the indigenous browser.

Why is there a need for a Swadeshi Internet Browser?

Internet browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla, Firefox do not possess any Indian certification agency in its root store. The root store is mapped to the trust store along with the operating system and application status, whether it is secure or not. It does not have any Indian agency within its certificate. Currently, the browsers used in India do not have any collaboration with the Indian government for security and privacy, due to which India is soon going to develop its own internet browser.
