Introduction

Recently, there has been a lot of shock and panic in the healthcare industry across the world. COVID-19 has dealt a blow to the healthcare industry. Healthcare professionals have faced different types of attacks, including physical assault by patients and their relatives, denial of service by doctors and medical staff, blockages, cyber attacks, and psychological threats to doctors. COVID-19 is taking an adverse turn with over six lakh deaths in the United States, 4.2 lakh deaths in India, 5.5 lakh deaths in Brazil, 1.2 lakh deaths in the UK, and nearly 1.2 lakh deaths in Italy. The healthcare industry is in a delicate situation, and doctors are looking for practical solutions that can help them speed up work. Adopting technology can be a boon for the healthcare industry in this challenging situation. Different departments in the healthcare industry are facing different types of problems in dealing with patients. There are already discussions going on about video consultations and other uses of technology to improve processes during COVID-19. The role of SMEs cannot be denied whether in developed or developing countries.

Many emerging countries like India, China, Malaysia, and Indonesia are interested in promoting themselves as developed nations. To achieve this classification of being a developed nation, emerging nations have to become sustainable-developing nations. Thus, emerging countries have to improve the gap in the income level of the people, per capita income, employment opportunities, security of the people, health conditions, and the general living standards of the people. In simple words, a nation needs full growth and economic development. Therefore, the role of SMEs is far more important for developing and emerging countries in reducing poverty, improving income gap, generating employment, and increasing the overall GDP of the country. If the government has an idea of the responsibility required to develop SMEs, they can really be game-changers. In the medical field, many SMEs are looking for a possible solution to their problem. Artificial Intelligence can solve their problem, and lead them to sustainable growth.

In many developing countries, SMEs are in a bad state due to lack of updation. SMEs face financial burden as well as competition with top companies in their markets. They need to contribute to the development of the nation and economies of scale. Moreover, the development of SMEs should be done with limited sources and support. Moreover, their contribution to the nation is huge. Nowadays, SMEs can achieve the desired development due to internet resources in the form of e-commerce, social media, technology 4.0, ITC tools, etc. Subsequently, SMEs can contribute to sustainable development for a nation as well as upgrade that nation to the category of developed nations. Currently, the adoption of e-resources is in the initial stage in India and many developing countries. This article reviews the recent literature on “AI and healthcare sector” and presents the findings.

This study has important implications for practitioners and researchers as it highlights the possibilities of applications of AI in the healthcare sector, which becomes fundamentally important as the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in a new era of healthcare problems around the globe. The results of this study can be helpful for SMEs in the healthcare sector to streamline their overall processing. Literature Review

In this article, fifteen different articles (top-cited) are reviewed, which are based on the use of AI in the healthcare industry. Many small and medium enterprises have already adopted technology 2.0 social media tools to improve their marketing and sustainability responses.

Summary Of Literature Review- (Authors’ Own Compilation)

1. The authors have argued that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help solve the human resource crisis in the healthcare industry as it can help in faster diagnosis, quick decision-making process, and data analysis.

2. The authors have argued that Artificial Intelligence (AI) cannot completely replace human resources, but it can mainly help in four areas such as patient administration, decision-making, monitoring, and intervention.

3. The authors argued that healthcare professionals need something to help in early identification and treatment against the COVID-19 pandemic. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technology can be used for early detection, analysis, screening, and tracking of COVID-19 patients.

4. Both AI and big data can help in combating the COVID-19 pandemic in three ways. In the short term, AI and big data can help in identifying and diagnosing COVID-19 cases. In the medium term, these technologies can help identify therapeutic options, and in the long term, technologies can help share data and information with proper protocols.

5. The authors have argued that Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based systems can help in risk assessment at the individual level and for the entire healthcare industry or even the entire country. Health risk assessment over emails, phone calls, and messages using AI models falls under assessment at the individual level.

6. There is a need to reduce human intervention in the treatment and medication of COVID-19 patients. AI and machine learning can enhance diagnosis, treatment, and cure. Practical use of AI can improve prognosis.

7. AI can help in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in many ways. It is useful for tracking, knowledge sharing, prediction, social distancing, and medical chatbots. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also working on prevention strategies on COVID-19.

8. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies will be used for prevention, diagnosis, and cure of COVID-19 disease. Apart from this, the technology will be beneficial for monitoring.

9. In the cases of BlueDot and Metabiota, early detection by Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based algorithms helped that company. Therefore, the use of technology prevents the detection and containment of the virus and it happens at a particular time.

10. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help the healthcare sector in predicting the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19. It can make the healthcare sector more focused and disease-specific analysis and interventions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can control the threat of infectious disease.

11. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) pushes the healthcare industry towards moving forward rapidly as Artificial Intelligence (AI) is very helpful in faster detection, diagnosis, and treatment. It helps in making effective and efficient decisions.

12. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based applications can help streamline the dental healthcare workforce; they can reduce healthcare expenses and eventually help in predictive, preventive, and participatory dentistry.

13. Artificial Intelligence (AI) helps in improving clinical care, treatment, efficiency, and testing in the healthcare sector. It is also useful in building trust and engagement among the healthcare sector by practical use of technology.

14. It helps in reducing human cognitive tasks by adding the possibility of automation in the healthcare industry. AI is useful in preventing all major diseases like cancer, neurology, and cardiology. Practitioners are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in NLP.

15. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help in early warnings, tracking, detection, diagnosis, prediction, and social control, but there are some bottlenecks like lack of data or too much data. Practical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is still a problem

16. Based on the above literature, it can be concluded that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be helpful for the effective functioning of the healthcare industry in one or more ways.
