Cyber crime is the result of technological advancements. This is a dangerous crime that involves the use of the Internet and computers. Cyber crime is not caught in the initial stage, but with its consequences it becomes visible to everyone. Through this, illegal transfer of data and information is done, which can be confidential and valuable to any individual or group.

Cyber crime is a criminal act that is carried out through the Internet using computer equipment or any other smart devices. When it comes to cyber crime, it can be defined as a crime committed by the Internet, causing an unsustainable loss to an individual, organization or government. Cyber crime is a punishable offense committed by cyber criminals.

Purpose Of Cyber Crime

Hackers or criminals have various motives for committing this crime. They can also do this to harm any person, any organization or government.Many examples of cyber crime include fraud, identity theft, cyber stalking, creating or sending malware such as viruses to destroy systems or stealing data to make money, etc. People involved in such activities consider them an easy way to earn money.

Put another way, “cybercrime (Cyber Cryme) is crime that is committed through internet or digital devices. It involves hackers, fraudsters or cybercriminals using technology to swindle people, steal data or cause harm.”

It is an ilegal activity which is done through computer or internet.

Types Of Cybercrime

The types of Cyber Cryme are the following:-

1. Phishing – Stealing people’s personal information (such as bank details) by cheating via email or website.
2. Hacking – When a person enters someone’s computer, mobile or network without permission and steals or damages information.
3. Identity theft – Frauding another person’s identity (eg PAN, Adhaar) using.
4. Malware attack – Virus, ransomware or spyware damaging one’s device.
5. Online scam – Fake websites, defrauding money via lottery Scams or investment fraud.
6. Cyberbullying – harass or threaten someone on Internet.

Ways To Avoid Cyber Crime

The government should make some rules to prevent cyber crime and common people should also take precautions. Even many educated and knowledgeable people are involved in such activities. Instead of using their minds in a positive manner, they employ themselves in cyber criminal activities.

• Use Strong Password – Always create strong passwords and change from time to time.
• Don’t click Unknow Links – Avoid clicking on any unknown emails or links to the website.
• Install Antivirus Software – Use good antivirus to keep computers and mobiles safe.
• On do Two-Factor Authentication – This is very important to increase the security of online accounts.
• Be careful on social media – Do not publicize your primate information and do not contact strangers.
• Use secure website – Whenever online transaction occurs, use only website starting with https://.

Cyber crime has become the most prevalent crime committed through the Internet in the current scenario. Therefore, we should take some measures to avoid such crimes. Vigilant behavior and adherence to security protocols are just a helpful tool that can overcome cyber crime incidents to some extent
