Kitchen spices are not just to enhance flavor but also extremely beneficial for health. According to Ayurveda, spices like turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, fenugreek, celery, and garlic can help boost immunity, improve digestion, control blood sugar, and protect against many diseases.

Nowadays people’s interest in Ayurveda is increasing rapidly in the country, due to which now domestic spices are also being seen as medicines. Ayurveda claims spices like turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper can help strengthen body immunity and protect against many serious diseases.
The book ‘The Science of Ayurveda’ states that if used properly, these spices can also be helpful in detoxifying the body, improving the digestive system, maintaining hormone balance, and reducing mental problems. 1. Pepper
Pepper’s considered extremely effective for coughs and colds. Chewing 2-3 pepper grains can provide relief if someone coughs. Not just helps reduce cough but improves sleep quality. Pepper powder made in a problem like hives is recommended to be taken with hot ghee, which can relax body allergies and itching. Also, cough relief by mixing pepper, almonds, and sugar candy, taking the prepared mixture with milk or water.
2. Cardamom
Cardamom is described as beneficial in mouth ulcers and urination issues. Eating cardamom powder mixed with honey reduces internal inflammation, and blisters begin to heal slowly if mouth ulcers occur. At the same time, if there’s less urination or burning, taking cardamom powder with sugar candy can provide relief. It also cools the body and improves digestion.
3. Cinnamon
Cinnamon’s considered a powerful antiseptic and detoxifying spice. Consuming it improves digestion and helps flush out toxic elements from the body. Brewing cinnamon, ginger, and cloves combined is considered beneficial to relieve colds and coughs. This decoction keeps the body warm, boosts energy, and helps balance vata and kapha dosha as per Ayurveda.
4. Clove
Clove is used to relieve pain. If anyone has a migraine or severe headache, adding clove powder to water and applying it to the forehead can reduce pain. Chewing 2-3 cloves also benefits when coughing. At the same time, applying clove oil or clove powder to a toothache can provide immediate relief, as it has pain-reducing properties.
5. Cumin
Cumin is considered extremely beneficial to the digestive system. If anyone has diarrhea, drinking cumin powder mixed with yogurt or lassi can provide comfort. Also boiling 5-7g of cumin in 400ml of water when the water is half gone, relieving many intestinal issues. Regular consumption strengthens digestion.
6. Fenugreek
Fenugreek seeds are considered very beneficial for diabetic patients. Soaking it in water overnight and eating it with water in the morning on an empty stomach helps control blood sugar. Apart from this, by mixing equal quantities of fenugreek seeds, dry ginger, and turmeric and consuming it regularly, some Ayurvedic defects of the body can be balanced.
7. Celery
Celery is said to be useful in improving digestion as well as reducing alcohol habits. Boiling celery in water and consuming it strengthens the liver and may also reduce the desire to drink alcohol gradually. It’s recommended to drink before eating daily.
8. Turmeric
Turmeric is known for its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Not only beneficial to skin, but also helps to ward off bad breath, tooth, and gum problems. Massaging teeth with turmeric, salt, and mustard oil can relieve a problem like pyorrhea. Also helpful in reducing cough, cold, body aches, and inflammation.
9. Garlic
Garlic is considered extremely useful for heart and joint health. Eating 3-4 garlic cloves sliced and soaked overnight in water in the morning on an empty stomach helps lower cholesterol and strengthen the heart. It can also relieve osteoarthritis pain.
