Unbelievable Facts About The Human Brain

Friends, today we will learn some interesting facts about the most complex organ in the human body—the brain (mind). The brain is the control center of the central nervous system in animals. It regulates and controls their behaviour. In mammals, the brain is located in the head and protected by the skull. The brain (or brain matter) is present in all vertebrates, but in chordates, it appears as the central brain or as independent ganglia. In some creatures, like starfish, it is not centralized but spread throughout the body, while in some animals, like sponges, there is no brain at all. In higher animals like humans, the brain is extremely complex. The human brain has about 100 billion nerve cells, each of which makes more than 10,000 connections with other nerve cells. The brain is the most complicated organ. So, let’s now explore some special facts related to the brain.

20. When we laugh, about five parts of our brain work together.

21. Our memory is infinite; it will never say the memory is full, like a computer.

22. During watching TV, very little of the brain is used, which is why children’s brains do not develop quickly through TV alone. Reading and listening to stories develop a child’s brain more because they involve imagination.

29. Even with a helmet, the chance of brain injury is about 80%.

30. The smell of chocolate creates waves in the brain that make humans feel relaxed.

31. In a house where there is constant fighting, children’s brains are affected just like soldiers in war.

35. If the amygdala (part of the brain) is removed, a person will no longer feel fear of anything.

36. In a day, our brains receive about 70,000 thoughts, of which 70% are negative.

37. Half of our genes tell us about the structure of the brain, while the other half tell us about the entire body.

38. Your brain’s right side controls the left side of your body, and the left side of your brain controls the right side of your body.

40. If you drank alcohol last night and have no memory now, it doesn’t mean you forgot everything; rather, excessive drinking prevents new memories from forming.

41. When you look closely at a person’s face, you use the right side of your brain.

42. Small children sleep more because their brains use up about 50% of the glucose produced by their bodies.

43. Humans grow more at night than during the day, due to a small part of the brain called the pituitary gland, which releases a growth hormone during sleep.
