The Real Narendra Modi: Psychologist Ashish Nandy’s Disturbing Discovery And Authoritarian Blueprint

Imagine a leader whose public smile hides a thought that shakes even experts. In 1996, Psychologist Ashish Nandy had a deep conversation with Narendra Modi for hours. What Nandi discovered shocked him – traits of an authoritarian personality that shape Modi’s every move. This post reveals the layers of Modi’s true character. We will learn about his early days, changing speeches and systems built on loyalty rather than merit. If you are supporting Modi now, be prepared for a shock. More than 20 million voices have been added to our common fight to defend India’s Constitution and democracy. Let’s take a look at the facts.

Early Life, Ideological Basis And Organizational Development

Narendra Modi’s story begins in a simple manner in Vadnagar. He studied as an average student at Bhagavatacharya Narayanacharya School. His Sanskrit teacher, Prahlad Patel, noticed his average grades. Still, Modi shone in school plays – but only when he got the lead role. If they didn’t get limelight? So he did not go to the show at all. This points to a desire for control from the beginning. At the age of eight, in 1958, Modi joined the RSS on Diwali. He became a child volunteer at the local branch. Classmate Sudhir Joshi recalled how Modi used to run home after school to keep books, and then go straight to RSS meetings. By 1972, at the age of 22, he became a full-time campaigner for the group. Fifteen years later, in 1987, BJP inducted him as a Top Organizer.

His abilities came to the fore rapidly. During the 1990 Ram Rath Yatra, Modi took over Gujarat’s share for BJP. Biographer Andy Marino praised his important role in that incident. By 1995, he became National Secretary. Then the elections had changed – people were voting not only for change, but also to punish the enemies. Modi came to power riding on the same wave. In 2001, Gujarat made him the Chief Minister. This was followed by the 2002 riots, which brought charges against him from which he was later acquitted. From there, his image was divided into two parts: for some a staunch Hindu warrior, for others a developer for all. Both views do not show the complete picture.

Contradictions In Public Stance Versus Alleged Private Action

Modi takes a tough stance on faith in speeches. He criticizes mutton during Sawan, creating images of cultural confrontations. But electoral bonds tell a different story. His party took cash from halal beef exporters. Things hit the wallet – how is that right?

Take Swami Sanand, who was a true devotee of Ganga. This Hindu saint suggested four measures to clean the river. She sent three letters to PM Modi; RTI documents show that she reached out to PMO. No reply came. Sananda fasted for 111 days and died. Then Modi tweeted his condolences. A Hindu leader lets a saint die of hunger? What about farmer suicides? Many of them are also Hindus. Modi had promised help, but suicides are increasing.

Women also have to face similar gaps. Modi vows to protect their honour. “No one should play with the dignity of a woman”, he says Nevertheless, she supported Prajwal Revanna, whose video showed the exploitation of over 2,900 women – many of them Hindus. Despite opposition from the wrestlers, he gave the ticket to Brij Bhushan Singh’s son. Those girls, all Hindus, were crying for justice. Make fun of work. Why is real pain being ignored?

  • Speech versus support: Rallies raise chants of holiness, but votes go to accused men.
  • Hindu heroes ignored: Saints and peasants disappear while rhetoric is loud.
  • Women’s plight: Protests ignored; allies rescued.

These reversals show a pattern. Faith doesn’t work for people, but for scripts.

Tactical Use Of Communalism And Secularism

Modi changes colors like a chameleon. In Rajasthan, he spread fear. “They will hand over your wealth to intruders with more children”, he warned Amit Shah also echoed in boasting that the 2002 riots “taught Muslims a lesson” Provocative things were said to get votes through hatred. Now talk about Bihar— the atmosphere is different there. There Modi talked about unity. “I will not let India be divided in the name of religion”, he promised In Aligarh, he hit out at Congress and SP for ignoring the development of Muslims.

On 14 May, he renounced the Hindu-Muslim game. “That day, I will retire from public life”, he said A 2014 tweet recalled: “Secularism is in our blood” Amit Shah supported it in 2020—here is no Hindu nation, only the rule of the Constitution. What is the matter? Communal at one place, peaceful at another. There was a need for division in Rajasthan; There was a desire for peace in Bihar. Is Modi divided? No—this is the strategy. Talk according to the crowd. Promise peace where votes are needed. Old relations with Islam? He praised the peaceful names of the Prophet. Eid food from neighbors, passing under tazia—he claims it all. Still, the pattern is the same: say what wins. Things change, but the purpose remains the same. Votes first, truth later. When things change so fast you understand this game.

Blueprint For Power: Loyalty, Co-Option And Control

Modi builds his empire on the basis of those who agree. Party insiders tell stories in Caravan Reports. He teamed up with Keshubhai Patel to remove Shankar Singh Vaghela. Then, with the help of senior BJP leaders, he sidelined Patel. Historian Harbans Mukhiya compares it to Aurangzeb’s tricks – knowing who to hug, who to push. Vajpayee emphasized moral governance; Modi instead befriended Advani. Later, he also sidelined Advani. Jaswant Singh’s 2014 ticket was cut. Joshi switched seats, then sat on the bench with Advani in 2019. Same thing happened outside the party also. Sujata Singh was given early retirement; Jaishankar became Foreign Secretary, then Minister.

Important foreign posts were snatched away from Sushma Swaraj. Rajnath’s team removed him from the committees – it was a warning. Loyal people move forward. Nirmala Sitharaman joined BJP in 2006, became Defense Minister till 2017, followed by Finance Minister. Smriti Irani criticized Modi after the riots, but soon had dinner with him. Amethi lost? Yet he found the HRD ministry. Ashwini Vaishnav moved from business to three ministries in two years. Jyotiraditya Scindia changed parties, toppled the MP government, and grabbed the aviation post.

The names of the judges are also in this list. Ranjan Gogoi gave big decisions in favor of the government. After retirement? Got Rajya Sabha seat in four months. Lawyer Dushyant Dave called it quid pro quo – sheer corruption. Arun Mishra called Modi a genius. RBI? Raghuram Rajan did not get a second term; Urjit Patel resigned; Viral Acharya did the same. Keeping an eye on the elections? Ashok Lavasa refused to give clean chit on Modi’s hate speech. After a few months he also left. Appointments now? As per Modi’s wish. Cultural post? Lokesh Chandra said Modi is better than Gandhi – he was made the head of ICCR. Pahlaj Nihalani’s slogan of “Har Har Modi”? Became Chairman of CBFC. Gajendra Chauhan, star of B-grade films, above stars like FTII’s boss – Rajinikanth. The students went on strike for 149 days.

  • Clarification from the party: Opponents like Advani and Patel out.
  • Rise of friends: Sitharaman, Irani – loyalty pays off.
  • Agency capture: RBI, EC, courts bow to whim.

Control spreads. There is no scope for saying no.

Personality Cult: Own Passion And Artificial Engagement

Modi needs a center stage. He creates fake relationships everywhere. Old relationship with Bohra Muslims. Deep connection with Christians. Emotional engagement with Punjab, China, Yaduvansh, France, Ballia. In Bengal? Traveling to Kolkata Metro in childhood. Ruc—Metro opened in 1984, when he was 34 years old. 34-year-old? Mistake for votes. Promises come to the fore at the local level. Will be born again in Bengal in the next life.

Odisha is on top in India under his rule. Same for Karnataka also. Emotional hooks pull states towards themselves. Beef ban? Emphasis in UP with cow love. Kerala? Promises of good quality beef. Goa 2015: Amit Shah abolishes National Ban. Policies? When they fail they disappear. Demonetization is going to eliminate black money— now silent. Agricultural laws were historic, then canceled as a masterstroke—, now neither of them gets a vote. Double the income of farmers? Disappeared. Anti-corruption mantra? Parliament like clean Ganga? Speech on inflation? All over. Make in India lion? No poster. Skill India, smart city, bullet train— in cold bag.

Myself everywhere. Photos on food packets, vaccine cards. Schemes: Namo Kisan, Modi Marg, Namo Health Units. The stadium was named after him; Finished for Ambani, Adani. Ram temple? Star alone, priest shore. Akshardham 2005? Shared with Manmohan, Kalam, Advani. Modi pushes security to get photographed. Scold SPG for blocking the camera. Duck, peacock, pose—ego display on the beach. Gandhi place? Modi’s quotes make that man small. Olympic Poster: Athletes Small, He’s Too Big. Prashant Kishore rightly said—BJP needs brains, not just votes. Worship them, otherwise.

Conclusion: Authoritarian Personality And The Way Forward

Ashish Nandy was right after that 1996 conversation. Modi fits into fascist traits: radical toughness, pent-up emotions, fear of passion, ego hiding cowardice. External control hides internal doubts. Rich friends flourish; the poor are divided by hatred. Farmers, women, saints? Tools or dangers.

Narrative Lock: Red on NDTV, BBC, Wire. Godi media gets advertisements and interviews. Adani buys NDTV—now Modi chats there. Creators give awards to loyal YouTubers. Jai Shah is the head of BCCI – what is the qualification? Stuck in speaking Hindi. IT cells threaten critics; accounts ban. But what about loyal trollers? They are called on stage and followed.

This dictatorship is strangling democracy. We need leaders who face difficulties, listen to experts, and be humble. Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, Tharoor – Even Kejriwal or Om Kashyap is better than Modi’s arrogance. Whoever is accountable is better than the king. Save the Constitution. Choose better.
