Tesla has launched the latest version of its Manavarupi robot ‘Optimus’. This robot can now do almost all the daily functions of the house. It can also make food and clean it.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Alan Musk posted a video of this robot on social media platform X, which shows its ability to do domestic work easily. This video is becoming increasingly viral, depicting the vision of Musk’s AI-Interested Home Assistant.
In this video, Optimus is shown to shake food with a spoon, vacuum the floor and clean the table with a brush and dustpan. During all these works, it follows the instructions in peace. Musk wrote the caption to the video, ‘The best product ever.’
Humanoid robot optimus was first displayed in the ‘Tesla AI Day’ program in October 2022. Last year, a new generation, ‘Optimus Jane 2’, was introduced. This advanced model runs 30% faster and its balance is better, weighing 10 kg lower.
Optimus Jane 2’s hands are re-designed. It is faster than its predecessor and knows how to handle both delicate and strong things. In the video, the robot is seen raising eggs and taking them to another place.
Optimus is trained to choose objects according to their color. It automatically sorts and separates colored blocks. Additionally, it can also improve its errors. Its goal is to develop it as an alternative to low-skilled jobs.
Its human design allows it to work like humans, from grocery purchases to working on factory assembly lines.
Optimus Jane 2 Robot can imitate human dance moves. This capacity has come from technological progress, including better leg design and characteristics of new toes.
Optimus uses Tesla’s complete self-driving (FSD) technology and AI, which is also found in Tesla’s electric vehicles. It is equipped with 8 autopsy cameras, sensors and an FSD computer that help it to understand and navigate its environment.
In front of it, an interactive screen allows it to display and communicate the message. Optimus has five fingers and thumbs in the hands of which it can do complicated work like humans, such as using tools, catching things or raising delicate things like eggs.
Generation 2 models have tactile sensors for better hand mobility and better accuracy. Tesla’s Humanoid Robot ‘Optimus’ is expected to be available for sale by the end of next year, as it is still in the development phase.
Production and Price: This robot will be cheaper than Tesla’s cars. Media reports indicate that Tesla is planning to start limited production of this robot in 2025, initially for its car manufacturing plants. There is a plan to make it available to other companies by 2026.
CEO Elon Musk has revealed its estimated price at an event. He said that the price of this robot could be between $20,000 to $30,000 or about Rs 16–24 lakhs, making it more economical than Tesla’s electric vehicles.
