Tesla Autopilot Car Accident Case: The Court Ordered The Victim To Pay A Compensation Of $ 24.3 Million; The Company Claims That The Driver Was On The Phone

In a case associated with the Tesla Autopilot car accident, Allen Musk’s company will have to pay a compensation of $24.3 million (about Rs 2,100 crore). The Miami court of Florida gave the verdict after a four -year hearing.

The incident was in 2019 when a Tesla car, equipped with an autopylot system, crashed in Largo, Florida. The Tesla model S sedan collided with an SUV due to a system malfunction. 22 -year -old Nibel Benvids died in this tragic accident and her lover, Dillon Angulo, was seriously injured.

In its defense, the company argued that the driver’s attention was focused on his phone. However, the court rejected the claim and said that Tesla’s system was bad, and only the driver was not responsible for the accident.

Description of Tesla Autopylot Accident case

In 2021, the family of the victims filed a case against Tesla, accusing the company of hiding the flaw in the autopylot system and destroying important data and video evidence related to the accident.

Legal proceedings continued from 2021 to 2025. During this time, Tesla often settled many such cases or dismissed them in court.

Tesla tried to blame the driver during the jury trial in the Miami Federal Court, but the victims’ lawyers emphasized the flaw in the autopilot system. Finally, Tesla accepted the flaw in the vehicle, but denied the claims of tampering with the evidence.

Tesla believes that the court’s decision to pay compensation in the accident case is wrong. Tesla said today’s decision is to mislead. This may obstruct vehicle safety and threaten the efforts to create and implement Tesla and the entire industry’s life-saving techniques. Those who have started this case have created a story in which the car has been convicted, while the driver had accepted responsibility for the accident from the beginning.

How does Tesla’s Autopilot feature work?

The autopilot feature allows the car to run without the help of the driver. This technique depends on many inputs. For example, it connects the satellite directly for location and mapping. The destination is chosen on the map, and then the route is set.

When the car is in autopilot mode, it gets input not only from the satellite, but also from the cameras around the vehicle. This means that it can detect the items in front of the car, back or on the shore. If an object appears, the car may turn left or right or stop.

There are also several sensors in the vehicle that help maintain their position in the lane and explain the traffic signal. In autopilot mode, the car can reach speeds of up to 100 kmph. However, many times the sensors can deteriorate, causing accidents.
