Social media company Meta has introduced new subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Under this, ‘plus’ versions of apps are being rolled out. Users taking this plan will get special tools and customization options.
The move is part of Meta’s strategy to create a new source of income other than advertising. The new Plus plan will not replace the company’s existing ‘Meta Verified’ plan.
Meta has just announced the global rollout of these new ‘Plus’ subscription plans, but the company has not announced its launch date in India.
Since India is the world’s largest user base market for Meta, the company usually rolls out any major feature here in a phased manner.
Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus are designed primarily with social expressions and creators in mind. In this, users will get the facility to see how many people have reviewed their story. Besides these, 5 advantages will also be found…
1. Different lists of favorite people: Right now you can make only one list of ‘Close Friends.” With the new feature, you will be able to make many different lists of your choice and decide who sees which photo or video.
2. The story will not be removed after 24 hours: Now the story is removed in 24 hours. Now you will be able to keep it on your profile for more than 24 hours. You will be able to ‘spotlight’ one of your stories once a week so that more and more people can see it.
3. You will be able to see the stories of others secretly: You will see the story of the other person, and he will not even know it, because his name will not appear in the list of viewers. Apart from this, you will also be able to search the names of those who viewed your story.
4. Profile Update Without Disturbing Others: You can save any photo or video directly to your profile or highlights. For this, no notification or new post will go on the home page of your friends.
5. New methods of decoration: You will get new types of fonts, ‘Super Heart’ reactions floating on the screen, and favorite app icons to make your profile beautiful.
It completely focuses on personalization and messaging. In this, users will get features like app themes, custom ringtones, additional body chats, list customization, and premium stickers.
Two planned tests are also being done for Meta AI users.
• Meta One Plus: $7.99 (about Rs.770) a month.
• Meta One premium: $19.99 (close to Rs 1,900) per month.
The features in both are similar, but the premium plan will unlock the potential of deeper reasoning and high-compute queries for difficult tasks. This will provide excellent video and image-generation features on Meta apps. Meta AI will be free for general users.
Two plan tests will be conducted this week for creators and businesses:
• Meta One Essential ($14.99/mo—close to ₹1,450): It’ll get verified badges, protection from fake accounts, and an enhanced linksheet. With this, users will be able to add links to all their social channels in one place.
• Meta One Advance ($49.99/mo—close to ₹4,800): It’ll feature the benefits of Essentials, as well as having features in Facebook feeds, appearing higher in search results, bold ‘follow’ buttons on reels, and sending automatic follow invitations to people who engage with them.
This plan will help companies to increase traffic to their websites or shops. It will have the facility to provide access to deeper competitive insights like analytics tools, optimized scheduling tools, and other moderators without sharing passwords.
Also, if another user reuses their content, they will receive a notification so they can ask for the original reel’s credit label.
Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp remained completely free for years as companies earned billions from users’ data and ads. But now the number of users of these apps has reached its peak all over the world; that is, the pace of getting new users has slowed down.
