Jeff Bezos’ Company’s Rocket Blast On Launchpad: An Accident Occurred During Testing; The Amazon Owner Said All Employees Are Safe And Will Try Again

Amazon owner Jeff Bezos’ company Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket exploded on the launch pad during a test. It can be seen in the footage that after the blast the rocket turned into a big ball of fire.

Blue Origin reported that a hotfire test was being conducted at around 9:00 p.m. Thursday in Cape Canaveral, Florida. During this test, there was a glitch in the rocket, and this accident happened. This test was being done in preparation for a launch to be held in the coming days.

A hot fire test is a very important process to check the engine capacity of a rocket before sending it into space. In this, the rocket is tied tightly to the ground with the help of clamps on the launchpad itself. Then its engines are started at full strength for the stipulated time.

Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos said that all the employees are safe in the accident. We are busy finding out the cause of the accident. Today has been a very difficult day, but whatever needs to be rebuilt, we will rebuild it and return to flight.

There Is No Threat To The Public; The American Space Force Is Engaged In An Investigation

According to Brevard County Emergency Management, there is no threat to the general public from this explosion at the launch pad. The US Space Force has stated that emergency responders are present at the incident site. Along with this, officials are working closely with Blue Origin to evaluate the available data and find out the exact cause of the incident.

NASA Said, “Spaceflight Is Not Easy; We Will Support The Entire Investigation”

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said that spaceflight does not forgive anyone. Developing heavy-lift launch capability is an exceptionally difficult task. We support a full investigation into this incident. Will work closely with our partners to assess its impacts on upcoming missions and return to rocket launching.

Last Month Also A New Rocket Was Grounded

This is the second big problem with Blue Origin in recent times. Only last month, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had ordered an investigation into an accident related to the failed launch of a satellite, after which the company’s New Glenn was grounded.

Blue Origin Got A Big Success In November

In November last year, Blue Origin successfully launched a ‘New Glenn’ rocket from Florida. During that mission, the company had managed to make a successful landing of its reusable booster for the first time.

Blue Origin has built this New Glen rocket by spending billions of dollars in about 10 years. This rocket is as big as a 29-story high-rise building, whose first stage can be reused; that is, it is a reusable rocket. It is designed to counter Elon Musk’s Falcon rockets and powerful starships.

There Were Preparations To Challenge Musk’s ‘Starlink’

Interestingly, just a day before this incident, on Wednesday itself, Blue Origin had announced that we are preparing to send 48 ‘Leo’ satellites of Amazon into low orbit (low-Earth orbit) of space through the New Glenn rocket.

Amazon wants to create a broadband internet network around the world with the help of these satellites, which will directly compete with Elon Musk’s ‘Starlink’ network. However, the company had not yet decided any date for this launch.

After the video of the rocket explosion surfaced, Elon Musk wrote on X, ‘Very unfortunate. Building and operating rockets is a really hard job.’
