The government has issued a warning regarding OTP Fraud. These days cyber criminals are trapping people in their trap in a new way and vacating their bank account. The government has issued instructions to the users to be vigilant.
New incidents of OTP Fraud are coming to light, about which the government has issued warning to users. In the last few years, the incidence of financial fraud has increased rapidly. Cyber criminals are trapping people in their web in new ways and carrying out big frauds. Nowadays our mobile is not only useful to call or message. We use our phone from UPI payment to other banking service. In such a situation, you remain on the target of hackers.
Government agency CERT-in has issued a warning to users regarding the new OTP fraud and asked to be cautious. In most cybercrime incidents, a negligence by users gives access to your account to criminals. Once your information is late to reach the hackers, then they can easily make a dent in your bank account.
CERT-in released Warning
- The government agency has asked users with its X handle to avoid OTP fraud and be cautious. The government agency said that these days cyber criminals banks or other authorized financial companies are calling people with the toll-free number. If you get such calls, ignore it.
- Apart from this, you should not share your personal information such as credit or debit card details, CVV, OTP, account number, date of birth, credit/debit card expiry date etc. with anyone, neither on phone nor in-trap.
- If you have a call or message from any bank or financial institution etc., then you first go to the official website of the company and verify the number. Only then do you answer the call.
- Also, do not share OTP (One Time Password) or Passcode in e-mail received on the phone or with anyone.
- Cyber criminals these days attract users through cashback, offers etc. and then get information about OTP or passcode from them.
