Online Dating And Meeting Fraud Scam Using Contact Numbers And Fake Websites – Full Report And Warning To The Public

Online dating fraud is increasing not only in India, but also at the world at a dangerous rate. The fraudsters are trying to implicate, cheat and rob innocent people by using platforms in the name of “premium dating and meeting services”.

These scams often begin with a fake female profile contacting a person through dating apps, WhatsApp or random calls. Then the conversation comes on the promises of fast to meet, friendship or make a relationship. Once interested in interest, the victims are instigated to send money through UPI or bank transfer, but later they find out that they have been cheated.

Many of these numbers start with 89, 83, 98, 97, 90, 91, 94, 74, 75, 76, 77, which are quite popular among scammers.

These women are not really. They are either fake identity or are agents appointed to implicate men emotionally.

The victims are usually asked to pay directly through bank transfer, UPI or payment gateway.

Repeated reports of these bank accounts being associated with dating scam have been reported.

How does this scam work (step by step)

1. Early contact: You receive a message or call from a “girl” on WhatsApp or Dating apps such as traulimadley, bumble, or an unknown number.

2. Emotional interaction: The fraudsters pretend to be interested in friendship, dating or physical meeting.

3. Fake offers on the website: They give you links like www.theclassicmate.com and show “profile plan” or “VIP appointment” and ask for payment.

4. Demand for payment starts: First, they ask for ₹ 1000- ₹ 3000 as a registration fee. Later, they demand “meeting fee”, “confirmation of location”, “security deposit” etc.

5. Fake Executive/Coordinator joins: Suddenly another person will call to be a “manager” or “verification officer” and call to ask for money.

6. There is no real meeting: After receiving ₹ 10,000- ₹ 50,000, they block the victim, or avoid making new excuses.

7. Threatening and harassment (optional): Some fraudsters also threaten to make the chat screenshots public when refused to pay more by the victim.

Why should you be more careful than these numbers

These numbers with 89-97 range

Mobile numbers starting from 89, 83, 97, 91, 90, 94 etc. are usually used by fraudsters because they are prepaid and can be easily changed. These numbers are often registered using small SIM retail shops or online fake Aadhaar details.

Real life suffering experience 

“I came to a WhatsApp message from a girl named Sanjana in which she told that she works with Theclassicmate. She showed me a plan of ₹ 2500 and asked to pay from UPI. I paid. Later, I got a call from another number and said that I had to pay ₹ 5000 for the location sharing and girl security. Block me. ”

Public warnings and advice:

  • Do not trust any dating service that demands payment before the meeting.
  • Never send money to the bank accounts shared on WhatsApp or any website.
  • Do not rely on unknown numbers starting from 89, 83, 98, 91, 97 etc. which offer dating meetings.
