How Correct Is The Fear Of Getting Jobs From Artificial Intelligence In India

Vijay (name changed), who works as a legal associate in a legal firm in Delhi, is surprised that how can the tools of Artificial Intelligence (AI) be prepared in the legal language in the absence of an eye.

He tells BBC colleague Adarsh Rathore in a conversation, “When I heard about the chat GPT, I went up and asked to write a notice of defamation, referring to the names, legal stream, reference and compensation of the plaintiffs.”

“Legal notice was ready in front of me inside a few moments. To be honest, its language and style was better than me. I realized both thrill and nervousness.”

AI, ie Artificial Intelligence tools, has a similar experience of 34 -year -old Claire, who has been working in a big consulting company in London for six years.

According to the article published on the worklife, ‘Claire likes her work and also gets good salary but for the last six months she has started worrying about the future of her career.’

Claire says, “In terms of quality, no AI tool can match my work right now, but the speed GPT is getting better, it is surprised by the chat GPT is getting better. In a few years such chat bots will start working like me. Thinking that I am afraid what will happen to my job then.”

Constant increasing concern

In recent years, the news related to Robot and AI snatching human jobs has started coming in the headlines.

In July this year, there was news that a startup from Bengaluru replaced its 90 percent staff with AI Chat Bot. Sumit Shah, the founder of this company, had tweeted that while the response increased to the customers, the cost was reduced by 85 percent.

First open AI tool ‘Chat GPT’ made headlines overnight and now many companies are developing special AI tools for different areas. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of uncertainty among the employees.

As much as AI tools like chat GPT are being available as easily, many people have been wondered whether in the coming time, whether they will save jobs for those who are like them in the coming time?

Alice Marshall, the author of BBC Worklife, Josi Cax, said, “I think a lot of creative people are worried. We can just expect the customers to understand our importance and prefer humans inste

Alice Marshal works as a 29 -year copy writer in the UK Bristol.

How much is there a threat to AI?

Goldman Sachs published a report in March stating that AI can eat 30 crore jobs in the coming time.

Professorhouse Coopers (PWC), a global company providing professional services, found in its annual ‘Global Workforce Survey’ last year that one -third of the people were worried about the fact that their job could be threatened due to technology in the coming three years.

Vaniki Joshi Lohani, Assistant Professor at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Management and Entrepreneurship Institute of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi, says that there is no evidence of snatching jobs due to India AI.

In a conversation with Adarsh Rathore, she says, “It would be an exaggeration to say that the jobs from AI will go away. This is because AI is still in development and it will be a big thing to say that she will replace humans. Yes, it will speed up automation and some jobs can be reduced.”

Caroline Monterz is a career coach and lecturer at Columbia University in New York. She believes that it is natural to create fear from the changes that are coming due to fast technological development.

According to the article published in the BBC WorkLife, Montrez says, “AI is bound to feel threats because it is getting better and it is not clear where it is going to affect where it is.”

But he also says that it is under people to worry or not to worry about it and instead of worrying, it should be focused on learning and using it for your benefit.

‘Friendship’ is important with AI

Scott Licens, an expert on the ‘Trust and Technology’ at PWC, says that the way technology is moving, it has helped to automatically and easier the work process. But with the help of right skills, according to this change, itself can be molded.

He talks to Josi Caux, saying, “People have to increase tilt towards technology. They should take AI’s education and training according to their work. In this way they will also be learning a new skill. Instead of running away from AI, employees should emphasize on adopting and learning it.”

According to License, this is not the first time when the industry is changing due to something new, but we have found ways to mold according to those changes.

Sometimes some people have also benefited from new technology.

Caroline Monterz believes that a lot of good has come out of the progress made in the recent past.

She says, “The changes in technology have been playing an important role in advancing the society. AI will also be present, which is a good thing. But if people keep worrying instead of learning it, they will not do more damage, they will do more harm than they do not do.”

‘Effect low, worry big’

Experts say that some concerns may be justified but there is no point in panic.

Some research suggests that people worry too much about robots snatching human jobs.

Professor Eric Dahlin, at Briguam Young University in Utah, USA, found in a November 2012 research that both Robot and AI had very few jobs from the estimate of people.

According to the article published on the  worklife, they show that a total of 14 percent of the people felt that Robots would take away their jobs but the reality was different.

During the research, two classes were talked to. One class was his job whose job was due to robot and the other whose job was safe.

Those whose jobs were lost, their estimate from Robot was actually three times more than the number of jobs. At the same time, those whose jobs were not lost were also more doubling than the real number.

Professor Dahlin said, “If a technology has the ability to be used for any work, it does not mean that he will really be used.”

Human beings

Stephanie Kolman, head of the Peepal Advisory Service Business at Kalansing Company, Ernst and Young (EY), while speaking to Josi Caux, said that both humans and robots would need a mixture in future.

She says, “There will always be such important work for humans that cannot be robbed. There are human qualities like forming relationships during such work, understanding emotions and creativity. In terms of work, identifying these qualities of humans, which are not in machines, can help in removing concerns related to this subject.”

At the same time, JNU Professor Vaniki Lohani Joshi says that panic is not an alternative. AI is designed to share our work and increase its quality. In such a situation, the situation will become more complicated by feeling uncomfortable or scared.

She says, “The possibility of handing over everything to AI in future is less. But if someone wants to increase his job opportunities, he will have to emphasize on learning AI. Seeing how he can improve his work.”

A few weeks ago, Kaler decided that she would start learning about this technology changing the industry.

She says, “Earlier I was afraid of the tasks where technology was used. But now it was realized that it is stupid to do so. Now I understand that the more I know about it, the less scared.”

At the same time, Legal Associate Vijay laughs and says, “Now I too sometimes prepare a contract or draft of the agreement with the help of chat GPT and then read the necessary changes while reading carefully. This is facing me facility but also worried that people like me can decrease in jobs later.”

Experts say that people should learn to use it by considering AI as a thing of work instead of danger. This will also end the concern and they will also be able to make themselves a capable employee.
