History
For the first time in 1815, the attention of some English travelers was drawn to the tea bushes growing in Assam, from which the local tribal people used to make a drink and drink it. Lord Bentinck, the Governor General of India, formed a committee in 1834 to explore the possibility of introducing the tradition and production of tea in India. After this, tea gardens were planted in Assam in 1835.
It is said that one day, some dry leaves flew by in the wind and fell into the cup of hot water kept by the Chinese Emperor Shan Nung, which gave color to the water, and when he sipped it, he liked its taste very much. The journey of tea begins from here. This happened 2737 years before Christ. The first mention of the tradition of drinking tea dates back to 350 AD. In 1610, Dutch traders took tea from China to Europe, and gradually it became a favorite beverage throughout the world.
According to another story, in the sixth century in the Hunan province of China, the Indian Buddhist monk Bodhidharma used to meditate without sleeping. He used to chew the leaves of a particular plant to stay awake, and this plant was later identified as the tea plant.

It is well known that tea was first widely introduced in India by the British during the British rule.

Tea was produced the most in the world in India, but now China ranks first in it, and the largest exporting country is Sri Lanka. Even the national income of Sri Lanka depends on the export of tea.
