The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said in a release issued on Wednesday that there is no direct link between Covid-19 vaccination and deaths due to sudden heart attacks in the country. The ministry has said that, “This is confirmed in two separate studies conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
The ministry further said, “The COVID-19 vaccine in India is safe and effective and cases of its serious side effects are very rare.” According to the government, “Deaths due to sudden heart attack can be related to genetics, lifestyle, pre-existing diseases and problems after COVID.” The ministry has said that a study of 19 states and union territories by the National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE) has revealed that COVID-19 vaccination does not increase the risk of sudden deaths in young adults.
At the same time, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has said in an initial analysis conducted after the study, “Myocardial infarction or heart attack remains the leading cause of sudden death in the youth. There has been no major change in the pattern of its causes this year as compared to last year.” AIIMS has said that the final results will be shared after the completion of the study, but AIIMS has considered “genetic changes as the possible reason” behind these deaths.
The ministry has said that, “Both the studies show that the reason behind sudden deaths is not the Covid-19 vaccine but pre-existing health problems, genetic predisposition and unbalanced lifestyle.” But experts have mixed opinions about this claim and many experts have also disagreed with this claim of the government.
In Hassan district of Karnataka, 22 young people died of heart attack in about a month. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed apprehension about the Covid vaccine behind these deaths. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written on X, “Recently more than 20 people died of heart attack in Hassan district This is a serious matter. Are these sudden deaths a side effect of the Covid vaccine?”
He has written, “Many international researches have recently indicated that the vaccine can cause heart attacks. Can the hasty approval of the vaccine be the reason for these deaths?” Dr. Jacob Puliyal of St. Stephen’s Hospital’s opinion on the Covid 19 vaccine is also different from the study of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Dr. Jacob Puliyal says, “It is a simple matter that the vaccine being made in India is originally coming from Britain. Now the company that has made the vaccine is admitting that it can cause problems, so then the method of this investigation can be understood.” He said, “How is the Union Health Ministry conducting the investigation. Which vaccine is being tested and what is the method of their testing. In such a situation, it is understandable to everyone to say that the problem of Britain is not happening in India.”
AstraZeneca, the pharmaceutical company that makes the corona vaccine, had admitted about a year ago that its vaccine could have ‘serious side effects’. The company had admitted in the UK High Court that the vaccine could cause a condition like Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) in someone.
Due to this, blood clots form in people and the number of blood platelets decreases. In such a situation, the chances of brain stroke and cardiac arrest increase. AstraZeneca had prepared Covishield in India in collaboration with Serum Institute of India.
Dr. Chandkant Lahariya, Director of Foundation for People-Centric Health Systems, says, “There is no vaccine in the world which has zero side effects. All have some side effects, so this vaccine also has side effects.” Dr. Lahariya says, “The same vaccine has different effects and side effects in different places. In such a situation, it is not necessary that the side effects of the vaccine which are seen in European countries will be seen in Asian countries. This happens because everyone’s genes are different.”
He said, “Thirdly, it is seen that according to the population, how many heart attacks used to happen earlier and how many are happening now. If there is a change in its rate, then there is a problem otherwise not.” The report of the Union Health Ministry can be seen by keeping all these parameters.
Dr Lahariya says, “There have been reports of heart attacks in many places in mRNA vaccine, but no scientific evidence of this has been found in India yet and the TTS (blood clotting) that is being talked about. There is no evidence of that in India either.
Even though ICMR has given a clean chit to the Kovid-19 vaccine regarding the deaths of young people due to heart attack, the opinion of the European Society of Cardiology is different from this. The European Society of Cardiology has found in one of its research that there is a possibility of a deep connection between deaths due to myocarditis and the Kovid-19 vaccine.
According to the British Heart Foundation, there is a link between myocarditis and pericarditis of Kovid-19 vaccines. Although it is very low, but according to the UK’s Green Book on Vaccines, it is more in young men under the age of 25. Pericarditis is the inflammation of the layer around the heart while myocarditis is the inflammation of the heart muscle According to the Foundation, the second dose has been found to be more risky than the first dose. Referring to the medicines of two companies, it has been told that this risk can happen to one in ten thousand people.
However, the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency says that for most people, the benefits of getting the COVID-19 vaccine outweigh any risks. Heart attack in youth In the last few years, many incidents of death due to heart disease have come to light in India. Videos have surfaced of many people suddenly getting heart attacks while sitting, dancing, exercising. In the video, people are seen suddenly falling due to heart attack and dying. Many of these people were very young.
Heart attacks have also been found to be increasing in youth and teenagers. 46-year-old Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar had a heart attack. 41-year-old TV actor Siddharth Shukla had a heart attack. 59-year-old comedian Raju Srivastava had a heart attack while exercising in the gym. 21 in Jammu and Kashmir A 35-year-old boy fell on the stage while dancing. He had a heart attack and died.
A 35-year-old man died of a heart attack while playing Garba in Mumbai.
A 33-year-old gym trainer fainted while sitting. He died of a heart attack.
Although there is no evidence of any of these cases being linked to the Covid vaccine, doctors have been warning about the long-term effects of corona infection in India.
