Each cigarette reduces the survival expectancy of a smoker by 20 minutes. We are not making it up. This has come up in a study conducted by University College, London (UCL).
According to the study, smoking one cigarette reduces the survival expectancy of a woman by 22 minutes and a man by 17 minutes. This is 20 minutes for both sexes.
This way, if a person smokes 10 cigarettes daily, then his survival expectancy reduces by 3 hours and 20 minutes every day.
Earlier, the study of University of California took the year 2000 into consideration as the basis of this calculation. According to that study, with each cigarette smoked, the survival expectancy of people decreased by 11 minutes.
For such calculations, the harm and disease caused by cigarettes are taken into consideration as a basis. After this, it is seen miles away at what age the number of humans died due to the disease caused by cigarette smoking. Now the brand new inspection includes the people who smoke all over the world.
So these days in ‘Sehatanama’ we are able to speak about this new inspection on cigarettes. Also, we are able to recognize that-
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than eighty lakh humans die each 12 months due to cigarette smoking everywhere in the world. On the other hand, more than 10 lakh people die every year in India due to smoking. If the figures of deaths caused by the consumption of other tobacco products are also included in this, then about 13.5 lakh people die every year in India due to tobacco consumption.
No one knows the right time to stop smoking. It can be stopped at any age and at any time. According to pulmonologist Dr. Ankit Singhal, our body should start quitting smoking as soon as possible. Its effective results may appear late, but the body starts to show results from the first minute itself.
According to University College, London, the life expectancy of people is decreasing rapidly due to smoking. Smoking one cigarette reduces the life expectancy by 20 minutes. On the other hand, if a person smokes 10 cigarettes every day for 10 years, it means that 500 days of his life were reduced.
Dr Ankit Singhal says that if smoking is stopped, recovery stops in our frame from the primary minute. If a person is smoking a very little cigarette each day, then 20 minutes each day can be delivered to his lifestyle. On the alternative hand, if people who smoke 10 cigarettes each day now do not smoke for 10 years, then their lifestyle will jump by means of 500 days.
