Cyber Friend: Account Empty As Soon As You Pick Up A Call, The Incident Will Blow Your Mind, Never Pick Up The Calls From These Numbers, Cyber Executive’s Advice On Fraud

Cyber fraud compliant in India: People are now quite aware not to give OTP and bank or personal details to anyone. But, fraudsters have gone far beyond that. Now neither they ask for OTP nor details, just you picked up their call and account blank.

Cyber fraud call alert: You might think fraudsters can’t withdraw money without OTP and personal details are wrong. There was an incident in UP where the caller didn’t even talk to the woman from Aligarh and nearly Rs 1 lakh was deducted from her account just by picking up the phone. Woman picked up call and just asked who was speaking, no sound came from there, then cut off call after 20 seconds. But, within this time someone swept his account. First there was a message of 1 rupee being deducted, then the woman was left speechless after seeing the message of 99,999 rupees being deducted from the account. Fraudsters have found this way to cheat online.

This isn’t the first incident of online fraud, many such incidents are happening every day. When money’s being defrauded just by picking up the phone. This incident is also interesting because the woman neither clicked on any link nor told anyone any confidential OTP or code on the phone, yet how was the money deducted from her account? Cyber Crime Advice of Delhi Police, cyber affairs expert Kislay Chaudhary says that the incident that happened in Aligarh, such incidents of money fraud are happening in Delhi and surrounding areas also. Phone swindle cases have gone up a lot. Cybercriminals’ fraud methods vary, too. Earlier it used to be that OTP or code was asked by phone but now an even more advanced method has come. It’s mind-blowing.

Fraud is happening with foreign numbers

Chaudhary says call in woman’s case must have come from outside India. Any thug who’s sitting abroad has almost all of your information, calls you and blows money off the account by decoding the phone’s settings during the conversation itself. It’s done in seconds. However if the call you have comes from a number with Indian code it’s hard to happen. Money can’t be duped just through conversation when a call comes from an Indian number. If you have an Indian number, you can get cheated only by clicking on a link, downloading an app or giving the CVV number of OTP or ATM.

Do not pick up the phone if calls come from these numbers

Kislay says if you’re getting calls from international numbers don’t pick them up at all. Keep in mind India’s country code is plus 91, written at the front of any mobile number. In such a situation, if you are getting a call from any other code, then it could be an international junk or fraud call, so do not pick up such calls.

Protect yourself like this

Kislay says cyber criminals do this again and again even when a call is not received, so always be careful to avoid fraud. Some smart phones are coming these days in which if there is a fraud call, they alert you of junk call. Also, whenever you are clicking on an unknown link, starting from online shopping, take special care and go to a trusted source only. If you’ve been through such a fraud, contact the bank immediately. RBI guidelines and you can get money back too.
