Nodal Cyber Cell Officers are designated officers in government departments, law enforcement agencies and other public sector organisations, who act as the primary point of contact for all cyber-related matters. Their main responsibility is to ensure seamless interface between their respective organisation and cyber crime investigation units, including district cyber cells, state cyber crime departments and central cyber crime authorities. These officers are responsible for receiving, processing and escalating complaints related to cyber crimes such as hacking, phishing, online fraud, identity theft, social media abuse, ransomware attacks and other forms of digital crime. They are entrusted with the task of coordinating preventive, investigative and remedial measures, to ensure that cyber complaints are resolved promptly and efficiently. Apart from handling incoming cyber crime reports, nodal cyber cell officers also serve as a bridge to spread awareness about cyber security practices within their organisation and to the public. Their role often involves training employees, providing guidance on safe online behavior, updating protocols for secure information management, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks related to cybersecurity. They serve as an official point of contact for both victims and investigating officers, thereby playing a vital role in mitigating cyber risks and enhancing digital security within their operational jurisdiction.
On the other hand, Grievance Officers are appointed to manage and resolve complaints and grievances lodged by citizens, employees, or stakeholders against an organization or its services. Their primary role is to serve as a formal channel to address concerns in a fair, transparent, and timely manner. Grievance Officers ensure that complaints are acknowledged, documented, and acted upon in accordance with established procedures and statutory regulations. They investigate the issues raised, coordinate with relevant departments or personnel, and provide appropriate resolution while maintaining fairness and accountability. These officers play a vital role in improving organizational transparency, ensuring accountability, and maintaining trust between the organization and its constituents. Grievance officers also monitor complaint trends, identify systemic issues, and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurrence. They may maintain records of all complaints, report regularly to higher authorities, and ensure that follow-up action is completed effectively. Their work is integral to promoting a culture of accountability, fairness, and continuous improvement within organizations, thereby enhancing overall governance, customer satisfaction, and institutional credibility.
