Cases Of Hi-Tech Fraud Are Increasing Using AI, This Is How The Script Of Fraud Is Created, Be Careful

A digital risk firm has raised concerns over AI-enabled financial scams spiking in India. The report analyzes some cases, including a deep fake video of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in which she is seen supporting fraudulent cryptocurrencies.

The report, titled ‘False Endorsement, Real Losses’ by digital risk management firm Athenian Tech, said the initial wave came with the circulation of Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s deep fake video, in which he was accused of supporting a platform called Google Invest. Was portrayed in a wrong way. It was reported as a government-backed initiative delivering unusually high returns. Further investigation reveals that the same eco system released a fake video of Nirmala Sitharaman, in which she appeared to support another hypothetical initiative called ‘InvestGPT’, Kanishk Gaur’s company report said. Kanishka Gaur has played leadership roles in Deloitte, EY and Synopsis.

Video’s the same as Sundar Pichai’s previous clip, using lip-sync and voice synthesis to support him. The report in the ‘Thread Analysis’ section specifically talks about the implications of such synthetic media. They create a misleading sense of legitimacy by showing trusted public figures. They significantly narrow the gap between authentic and manipulated comminution. They spoil public perception, and they cause significant damage to Prestige even after content removal by spreading suspicion and misinformation on digital channels.

Report recommends step aside from domain takedowns, to fight this new class of digital fraud.

It also allowed domains to report to CERT-In and other cybersecurity authorities for immediate takedowns, notify domain registrars and hosting providers to suspend the website, block URLs within the network to prevent users from accessing it, Also suggested raising public awareness and monitoring similar domains about scams that could duplicate the scam to continue cheating under new names, through social media and official advice.
