New Delhi, 21 November Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Auditorial Examiners to curb fraud in government departments and develop new technical ways of improving capacity. The Prime Minister addressed a conference of Comptroller and Auditor Examinations here on Thursday that auditors should play an important role in making the country a $ 5,000 billion economy. Modi emphasized that the government wants to move towards making evidence -backed policy by 2022 and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) can play an important role by focusing on the comprehensive analysis of data as a think tank.
He said, “We should challenge fraud. Internal and external auditors need to find new ways to catch fraud.” He said that many attempts have been made in the last few years to prevent fraud in government organizations. The Prime Minister insisted on making proof -based policy making an integral part of administration operations, saying that auditors should resort to technical measures to remove the possibilities of fraud in the organization and give new identity to the new India. Modi said, “India is moving towards becoming a $ 5,000 billion economy and auditors have a big role in it.” “What you do will directly affect policy making, efficiency, ability to take decisions, business, investment, business ease.
“He has asked the CAG to think from the point of view of the think tank and not only from the perspective of the auditor, whose job is just to find out the mess. The Prime Minister appreciated the new initiatives of the Government Auditor (CAG) and said that you are working to increase the CAG towards CAG Plus and it has also helped the country. Earlier, he unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the CAG campus. The Comptroller and Auditor General Rajiv Maharishi gave a detailed presentation of the initiatives made by the apex accountant and also highlighted various problems like non -availability of data.
