America Caught Russian Ship, There Were 3 Indians On It: It Was Going To Buy Oil From Venezuela; Russian MP Threatened Nuclear Attack

Three Indian citizens were also aboard the Russian ship Marinera, which was captured by the US on Wednesday. This information has been given by Russian news agency Russia Today quoting sources. According to the report, a total of 28 people were present on the Marinera ship. These included 17 Ukrainians, 6 Georgians, 3 Indians and 2 Russian citizens. The US alleges that the ship was carrying oil from Venezuela and violated US sanctions.

After the capture of this ship, Russian MP Alexei Juravlyov said that President Putin should attack with nuclear weapons and sink the US Coast Guard ships.

Russia Said- America Broke International Law

Russia has expressed strong protest against this action. Russia’s Transport Ministry said American troops stopped the ship in the open sea, where no country has jurisdiction. This is a violation of international maritime law. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said that America had already been told that this ship is Russian and is being used for civil work. Russia has demanded that Russian citizens on board the ship be treated fairly and allowed to return home safely.

China Also Opposed America

China has also criticized this action of America. China’s Foreign Ministry said that it is against unilateral sanctions imposed without the permission of the United Nations. Austria’s former foreign minister and a former US military officer have also called this action against international law. At the same time, America’s European Military Command said that this tanker was caught on the orders of the American Federal Court. The American Coast Guard was keeping an eye on this ship for a long time. The US claims that the ship deliberately avoided them.

The Name Of The Ship Was Changed Last Month

The Russian ship captured by America was earlier named Bela-1. America had put it in the list of banned ships. In December 2025, it was heading towards Venezuela, but the US Coast Guard tried to stop it. At that time the ship was saved due to the intelligence of the ship’s crew member. The US Coast Guard had a warrant to seize the ship. US officials alleged that the ship was violating US sanctions and carrying Iranian oil.

Then this ship was registered under the flag of Guyana, but after this the name of this ship was changed to ‘Marinera’. After this, the Russian flag was placed on it and it was included in the official registration list of the country.

The Ship Changed Course Due To Fear Of Being Caught

After this, this ship was going towards Venezuela, but due to fear of the American block, it changed its route towards the Atlantic, but many countries including America and Britain were monitoring this ship. Its every move was monitored through air and sea surveillance. The American ship USCGC Munro chased it and caught it.

When American forces boarded it in the North Atlantic, it was accompanied by a Russian submarine and other naval vessels. However, no direct confrontation took place. Russian media have released photos of a helicopter near the ship.

Countries Are Not Able To Buy Oil Due To American Sanctions

In fact, in December 2025, US President Trump had imposed a blockade on the ‘Shadow Fleet’ to increase pressure on the government of Venezuelan President Maduro. So that it accepts America’s conditions and gives place to American companies in the oil industry. Due to US sanctions on Venezuela, many tankers were not able to carry oil directly. Therefore Venezuela and its clients (such as China) were using ‘shadow fleets’.

‘Shadow Fleet’ means ships that carry oil by hiding their real location and identity. These tankers turn off their transponders or change their flag so that the US or other countries cannot track them. This is also called ‘dark mode’.
