Disadvantages (Harm) From Sunlight

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation present in sunlight is harmful to both the environment and humans.

1. Effect On Eyes

Prolonged or midday exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun causes damage to the retina. Due to which the risk of cataract increases.

2. Being A Victim Of Heat

Excessive sunlight generates heat, due to which excessive amount of water and salt gets removed from our body through sweat, leading to glucose deficiency. Which causes fatigue.

3. Wrinkles/Aging

Wrinkles increase in the skin with increasing age, but prolonged exposure to the sun increases the rate of their development. UV light damages the collagen and elastic tissue in the skin, so it becomes brittle, causing wrinkles to appear.

Prolonged exposure to sunlight increases the risk of skin cancer.

4. Getting Sunburned

Sunburn is considered to be one of the most common negative effects of excessive sunlight exposure. Staying in bright light for too long can cause sunburn. Common symptoms of sunburn include.

  • Blisters

5. Heat Rash

Heat rash occurs in the skin due to heat and sweat. This occurs when sweat enters the sweat duct under the skin. Heat rashes often occur during hot, humid weather and, often appear as a rash or red clusters of small blisters. Heat rashes develop in skin folds, elbow creases, or the neck and upper chest.
