The social media platform X (previously Twitter) suffered a nearly 3-hour outage on the second day due to a technical glitch in the data center. Services remained down on Saturday evening from around 5.30 to 8.43 pm.
Users across the world, including India, had difficulty using key features including login, signup, posting and viewing, as well as premium services. Even on Friday, X was down for a few hours.
The technical team of the company is continuously working to fix the problem. X had recently reduced the engineering team significantly, due to which it is facing difficulty in handling the necessary systems.
The company’s engineering team had said in a post, ‘We are still facing problems with yesterday’s data center outage. Login and signup services are not available for some users and premium services may be delayed
According to DownDetector, a platform that states the real-time status of the website and online services, X users made complaints about being down between 5.30 pm and 8.43 pm. At around 6.23, the highest number of complaints were registered, at 2258.
At the same time, according to Reuters, complaints were received about social media platforms going down at 8:39 am in the US. There, more than 25 thousand complaints were filed.
According to DownDetector, many X users around the world faced problems accessing and refreshing posts on both the web and app versions.
About 55% of people had problems using the app. At the same time, 22% of people had problems logging in and about 23% reported that they had problems with web connections.
Earlier on 9 March 2025, users had faced outages three times. Then CEO Elon Musk had alleged that Ukraine was behind the downfall of social media platforms.
Musk said on Fox News – We do not know exactly what happened, but to destroy the X system, cyber attacks took place on a large scale from the original IP address from the Ukraine area.
Earlier Musk had said – Cyber attacks happen on us every day, but this time it has been done with a lot of resources. Some big group or country is involved in this attack.
On 26 April 2024, X was down from around 1.15 pm. 145 people on the down detector had reported trouble using X. Users were facing difficulty in using it on both web and app.
X was also serviced down on 21 December 2023. Users around the world, including India, had problems accessing X since around 11am on Thursday. Instead of the post, users were seeing a message in which it was written ‘Welcome to X’
On 27 October 2022, Ilon Musk bought Twitter (now X). The deal was done for $44 billion. According to today, this amount is around Rs 3.84 lakh crore.
Musk was the first to remove the company’s four top officials, CEO Parag Aggarwal, Finance Chief Ned Segal, Legal Executive Vijaya Gadde and Sean Adgate.
On 5 June 2023, Linda Yaccarino had joined as CEO of X. Before this she was the Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnership at NBC Universal.
