NEET PG examination will be conducted in a single shift. The Supreme Court gave this order on Friday. The students had filed a petition against the examination in 2 shifts. He said that in 2 shifts, there is a difference in the difficulty level of the exam to the exam paper, which is not fair evaluation. There is also a difference in the marks obtained in the examination.
NEET PG exam is to be held on 15th June for which admit cards will be released on 2nd June. In such a situation, the Supreme Court bench has heard the case quickly.
Supreme Court said – For normalization executive cases
The bench said – The argument cannot be accepted that the NBE (National Board of Examination) did not get adequate centers to conduct the examination. It is not fair to conduct exams in 2 shifts. The difficulty level of two papers can never be the same. Normalization should be used in extra-social cases and not in routine examinations.
This year’s exam is to be held on June 15. There is still more than 2 saptahs left to decide the examination body and choose the centres. Despite this, if more time is required then you can apply.
Courtroom LIVE…
Petitioner’s counsel – NEET UG also conducts the exam in the same shift, whereas the number of students in it is very high.
NBE – If there really is a homicide, why didn’t more narcissists complain?
Supreme Court Bench (from NBE) – What do you need to take online exam? This is a simple MCQ type exam.
NBE – The format of the paper has been prepared from the consultation of the National Medical Commission. Out of 2.5 lakh, only a few snuttudents have complained. If the examination is conducted in a single shift then it may cause problems. The exam will not be conducted as per schedule.
Petitioner’s counsel can provide centers for conducting the examination in a institution like TCS.
NBE – This will only harm the candidates. Because then we will not be able to start the session on time. The exam is to be held on 15 July. All preparations have been completed. If there is a snatch on the exam at this time, the entire session will be late.
The difficulty level of the corruption paper of both the sessions has been kept the same. After this normalization also happens. In such a situation, even if there is a slight difference in the difficulty level, the scores will become normalized.
Supreme Court Bench – How can there be difficulty level one? These are two different corruption papers. Difficulty level can never be the same.
NBE – We are not engaging with any snubs. We have limited centers for this exam also. Infrastructures, Wi-Fi, micro computers, privacy etc. have all been monitored. Keeping all the problems in mind, this innocent solution has been taken out.
Supreme Court Bench – Undergraduate (NEET UG) The number of students is more in the exam? You’re getting 2 shift exams?
NBE – This is an online exam. In 2024 NEET UG had to be cancelled due to glitches. There are limited centers for online exams. All such big exams in which students are present are conducted in the same manner.
Petitioner’s lawyer – It is from this exam that the students choose their premium. The number can change from one number to another. Screams like radiology and gynecology are decided by one mark each. If even one number is less then you will not get the college of your choice.
Supreme Court – NEET PG examination should be conducted in a single shift. For this, the number of exam centers can be increased. The concerned officers should take care that there is complete transparency in the exam.
On May 22, the court had issued instructions for transparency
The Supreme Court had heard the petition demanding transparency in the exam itself on 22 May. In this hearing, all private and deemed medical universities were instructed to issue their fee details.
Students went to court against normalization
Aspirants of the NEET PG 2024 exam had filed petitions for transparency in the exam in September 2024. The demand of the students was that the examination conducting agency NBEMS should also release the exam paper and answer key of the students. This will help the candidates to assess their results correctly and prepare better.
The second demand of the students was that the exam should be conducted in a single shift. Due to examination in two shifts, the report is issued after normalization which is not fair.
After all, what is normalization
Many times, when the number of candidates applying for an exam increases, the exam is conducted in several shifts. Sometimes the exam lasts for several days.
In such a situation, a separate set of question papers is given to the students in every shift. In such a situation, some students get difficult and some students get easy question paper. Here the question arises that how easy and difficult is decided.
Understand it like this…
In an exam, three sets of question papers – A, B, C were distributed. In this, the average score of students solving different sets will be calculated.
Suppose the candidates solving set A have an average score of 70 marks. Those in set B score 75 marks and those solving set C average score 80 marks. In such a situation, set C will be considered the easiest and set A the most difficult. Candidates with easy sets will have to lose some marks due to normalization and those with difficult sets will get extra marks.
Apart from this, the students have also opposed conducting the examination in 2 shifts. Students say that due to examination being conducted in one to more shifts, the difficulty level of the corruption paper varies. Due to this, fair evaluation is not possible.
Examination for 52,000 seats About two hundred thousand MBBS graduates give NEET PG every year for about 52,000 post graduation seats across the country. Last year for the first time NEET PG was conducted in two shifts instead of one shift format. On 11 August the first shift was from 9 am to 12:30 pm and the second shift was from 3:30 pm to 7 pm.
