Time magazine has released the list of the top 100 philanthropists in the world for the first time today, on Tuesday 20th May. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani have been included in this list.
Mukesh and Nita Ambani donated ₹407 crore in 2024 through Reliance Foundation. This foundation works for education, health, rural development and women empowerment.
Apart from this, Wipro founder Azim Premji and Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath have been included in the list.
The Ambani family has educated more than 10,000 youth by giving them scholarships. At the same time, the infrastructure of more than 500 schools has been improved and 20 hospitals have been constructed.
Taught sustainable farming and water saving methods in rural areas, benefiting more than 10,000 farmers. Apart from this, Nita Ambani has made more than 1 lakh women self-reliant by giving them skill training.
Earlier, Bloomberg had released the list of 25 richest families in the world. In this, the Ambani family was placed at number 8 with a net worth of 8.45 lakh crore. India’s Ka Mistry family remained at number 23 with a net worth of 3.5 lakh crore.
The Walton family, which runs consumer retail company Walmart, topped the list. At number two and three on the list were the UAE and the royal family of Qatar.
In September, Barclays-Huroon India’s Most Valuable Family Business 2024 list was released. According to this, the valuation of Ambani family is ₹25.75 trillion, it is about 10% of India’s GDP.
According to the report of Barclays-Huroon India, under the leadership of Reliance Industries, the family’s business Empire operates the energy, retail and telecom sectors. This ranking of Barclays-Huroon India is based on the valuation of the company as of 20 March 2024.
