Lord Shiva: The Whole Biography And Mystery Of Mahadev, The God Of The Gods

In Hinduism, one of Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh), Lord Shiva is worshiped as ‘Dev Mahadev of Devas’. He is the destroyer, patron and god of change of the universe. Shiva is not just a deity, but an ultimate power that is a symbol of quietness, penance, dance and creation. His glory is incomparable and his life is full of many mysterious stories and teachings.

The form and symbol of Lord Shiva

The form of Lord Shiva is unique and full of contradictions, which reflects his intense meaning:

  • Jata and Ganga: The Ganges river resides in the jatas entangled on their head, which is a symbol of purity and life -giving power.
  • Third eye (Trinetra): The third eye on the forehead is a symbol of knowledge and insight, which has the power to consume evil and see the truth.
  • Moon: The crescent on his forehead symbolizes coolness and victory over time.
  • Neelkanth: During the churning of the ocean, due to drinking poison, his throat turned blue, which is a symbol of wearing the poison for their sacrifice and protecting the world.
  • Nag (Vasuki): The snake wrapped around his neck is a symbol of Kundalini Shakti, victory over death and cosmic energy.
  • Trishul: Trishul in his hand represents all three powers. It is also a symbol of their control over past, present and future.
  • Damru: It is a symbol of the sound (sound) and creation and rhythm of the universe.
  • Bhasma: Bhasma on the body is a symbol of quietness, impermanence and purity.
  • Baghambar (Vyaghracharam): They wear tiger skins, which symbolizes strength, fearlessness and control of wild tendencies.
  • Nandi (bull): His vehicle is a symbol of Nandi religion, justice, power and loyalty.

Origin and major stories of Lord Shiva

There are many beliefs about the origin of Shiva, some of which are prominent:

  • Swayambhu: In many texts, they are considered self -proclaimed (which originated from themselves) and Anadi (who have no etc.).
  • Origin from Brahma and Vishnu: According to some mythology, a huge Jyotirlinga appeared when there was a dispute between Brahma and Vishnu about the superiority, which could not be ascertained. Finally, Shiva appeared from that Jyotirlinga.

Major stories

Samudra Manthan and Neelkanth: When the fierce poison came out ‘Hallahal’ during the churning of the gods and asuras, Lord Shiva took that poison in his throat to protect the world. That is why he came to be called ‘Neelkanth’.

Sati Dah and Shiva’s Tandava: When Shiva’s first wife, Sati, her father Daksha Prajapati jumped into the fire and gives up her life by jumping into the fire, then Shiva gets very angry. They dance ‘Tandava’ with the body of Sati, causing the entire universe to move. Later, Vishnu divides Sati’s body into 51 Shakti Peethas with his Sudarshan Chakra, which calms Shiva’s anger.

Marriage to Parvati: Goddess Parvati did harsh penance to get Shiva as husband as Sati’s rebirth. Cupid tried to disturb Shiva’s penance, which caused Shiva to consume him with his third eye. Finally Shiva was pleased with Parvati’s penance and married her. His sons are Karthikeya and Ganesh.

Devotees of Ganga on earth: When Goddess Ganga agreed to come to earth from heaven, pleased with the harsh penance of King Bhagiratha, Lord Shiva held her in his jatas to handle her intense velocity, which controlled her flow and life on earth was possible.

Main form and avatar of Lord Shiva

There are many forms of Shiva, which reflect their various aspects:

  • Bholenath: His form reflects his simplicity, kindness and the tendency to be happy on the devotees soon.
  • Rudra: This is his fierce and destructive form, which destroys evil.
  • Nataraja: This is his cosmic dancer form, which reflects the cosmic cycle of creation, protection and destruction.
  • Ardhanarishwar: This is the combined form of Shiva and Parvati, which suggests that male and female energy complement each other and are essential for the balance of the universe.
  • Jyotirlinga: The twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva are spread all over India, which symbolizes the worship of his formless form.

Worship and importance of Shiva

Lord Shiva is worshiped in various forms. Shivalinga Puja is the most common, which is a symbol of their formless and formless nature. Monday is dedicated to Shiva. Mahashivaratri is the biggest festival of Shiva devotees, which is associated with the marriage of Shiva and Parvati and the Tandava of Shiva.

Worshiping Shiva brings peace, prosperity and salvation, it is believed that. He is the deity of salvation, who liberates the fascination and inspires spirituality.
