Your own appearing on WhatsApp’s video calls could actually be a cyber thug or a hacker. Cybercriminals can empty your account using artificial intelligence. To avoid such online fraud, read this news and follow the advice of cyber experts.
Troubles on as smartphone adds features. Cyber fraud cases are also increasing rapidly due to smartphones coming into the hands of a large number of people and increasing online payment facilities. Sometimes thugs have been looting people by spreading their net through OTP and sometimes through some fraud link, but let us tell you that now a new technology has come in the market of cyber fraud and it is so dangerous that you will not even be able to doubt it. And you will spend your money very easily.
In cybercrime, thugging is now being practiced through video calls on WhatsApp or any other social platform. What’s special is that you don’t have an unknown person on video call but your familiar face, relatives, friends, relatives or very close. He asks you for money by telling you need and you trust by watching video calls and send money. Just here you become a victim of swindling.
Delhi Police Cyber Crime Advisor Kislay Chaudhary says that in the last one month, many cases of fraud through WhatsApp video calls have been reported in Delhi. In one case the woman received a video call from a new number on WhatsApp, there was her husband’s picture and voice on the front call, she asked her wife to immediately transfer Rs 2 lakh, the woman did it.
There was an 85 thousand case, in which the victim of cyber fraud got a video call with the face of a person very close to him and got 85 thousand rupees transferred. There’s been many more. The special thing is that due to video calls, people are not only trusting easily but also transfer huge amounts of money.
Kislay explains cybercriminal or conman first gathers complete information about any person through social media. Reads comments and behavior on posts after locating his close ones. After that, through Artificial Intelligence, WhatsApp collects the face and voice of one person and calls him by collecting the number of the face with whom he has to cheat.
Chaudhary explains that any hacker or swindler would have been adept at picking up a picture and showing it to AI expressing and speaking from that face. It’s very easy. In the last few days, many videos have gone viral on social media showing people singing songs with facial expressions who are not in this world. Through this artificial intelligence technology, hackers can easily use people’s faces and voices in video calls.
Kislyay says it’s always worth keeping in mind attackers always calls from new number. Number’ll be new even if you’re getting a video call with your husband, son, daughter, relative or other’s face. In such a situation, if the video call of those whose numbers you have saved is coming from a new number, then be careful and never give it when you ask for money. One thing always keep in mind is that if any such video call is coming then always cut this call and first make a normal call to that number and get information, only then think about transferring money.
A recent report shows that most cyber crimes in India are not being committed from Jamtara or Mewat but from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. Latest report by ‘The Future Crime Research Foundation’ (FCRF), an organization associated with IIT Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), shows that 18 percent of the cases are being carried out from Bharatpur while Mathura of UP is at second place.
