Exam date released after NTA’s talks with UGC
According to sources, NTA had expressed difficulty to University Grants Commission i.e. UGC in conducting the exam on the previously announced date. A meeting was to be held between NTA and UGC on May 6 to decide on the new date, after which the official announcement of the new exam dates has been made.
Why is the exam getting delayed
According to reports, one of the major reasons for the delay in CUET exam is the NEET-UG entrance exam last Sunday. This exam was held at more than 4 thousand centers. Due to this, NTA is asking for more time from UGC to conduct CUET.
Lakhs of candidates confused
This time 14 lakh candidates have registered for the exam. Lakhs of candidates were confused due to CUET exam not being held on tentative dates, because till now the candidates were waiting for the city slip and NTA had not yet given any information regarding the exam date.
This year the exam will be completely computer-based (CBT) for all 37 subjects. The duration of the exam will be 60 minutes. It will have 50 multiple choice questions. The number of shifts will vary depending on the exam center. The exam can be held in two to three shifts every day.
Unlike previous years, this time NTA has not released the official date sheet. Instead, information can be shared directly through city slip.
