Digital Arrest: Recently, the word digital arrest has been coming in the headlines again and again. In the latest case, Madhya Pradesh Police has saved a businessman from Bhopal from being a victim of cyber criminals. What is a digital arrest from the end? In this way, why have cases of cyber fraud have suddenly increased? Are there any ways to stop it? Let us know and understand the answers to all these questions.
Yes, it is a type of cyber fraud. This is a new and dangerous way to exploit people. There are two parts of this terminology digital arrest and scam or cheating. Before we understand digital arrest, it is very important to know here that there is no such word in the law. Digital arrest is a misleading strategy used by cyber criminals.
In this, they often make false claim to arrest a person on phone or through online communication. The motive is only to create an atmosphere of panic among the people, after which the victim is assured that he is involved in criminal activities and eventually a large amount of money is taken from them. This entire process is adopted in a very planned manner, so that the victim can never report the crime after the incident.
This can happen in many ways. But the most important thing in this is that the trapped person is forced to stay in front of the camera for hours or several days by threatening or greed, so that he gives many personal information in nervousness, using which his accounts are used to withdraw money, fake work in his name and take cash money.
The entire scam starts with simple messages, emails, or WhatsApp messages. In which it is claimed that the victim is engaged in some kind of criminal activities. After this, he has put pressure on a video or phone call and pressurize him to go through some special process and many types of information are also sought for confirmation. Such calls present themselves like police, narcotics, cyber cell police, income tax or CBI officers. They call in uniforms from an office.
After this, the victim is incorrectly accusing him and threatened to take legal action against him and claim that during the interrogation, he will have to stay on a video call and he cannot talk to anyone else until his documents etc. are confirmed.
It is here that the victim is restless and stress is brought, after which after getting all the information, he is interacted to calm the matter in which he is asked to pay a large amount. These money are put in an account which have nothing to do with the identity of criminals and these people disappear by withdrawing money immediately from there.
This digital arrest is more and dangerous than the black mail through the Internet because sensitive information is also obtained in it. This includes bank account number, credit card number, password etc. The thing to note here is that there is no legal provision for any kind of inquiries, investigation, or arrest in our country. Experts recommend not to give personal information in such cases, do not transfer money anywhere under any circumstances, and give complete information about the case to the police.
